St. Andrews UMC at 1004 Rock Road, De Soto, MOSt. Andrew's United Methodist Church

St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church is located in De Soto, Missouri, which is about 40 miles south of St. Louis.  This church has a long history in the community. The Methodist Episcopal Church, forerunner of St. Andrew’s, was organized about 1850.  The town of De Soto really started growing when the Iron Mountain Railroad arrived in 1857.  Even today it is basically a railroad town with the Union Pacific tracks paralleling its long Main Street. The small white frame church was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers during the Civil War.  Then in 1879 a small brick church was built at Fourth and Mineral Streets.  It was replaced by the Fourth Street Methodist Church in 1900.  A tragic fire destroyed this church in 1952, and a new church at a new location, the present Rock Road site, was built.  First services were held there in 1955, and have continued ever since.
