Terry Neckermann, chair of the Sarah Doremus Circle, reports several donations to missions this year.  These include $100 to Relay for Life; 41 health kits for Haiti relief (circle paid $250 for supplies; children assembled the kits); $200 for Macunhe UMC in Mozambique; and have set aside $200 for scholarships for our children to attend UMC camps this summer.  The circle also purchased the supplies for the May baskets made by the children of the church.  Plans for the Farmers' Market booth have been made.   UMC Pledge Cards are available in the office for those who wish to make this connection.

CHURCH NEWSLETTER IS GOING TO BE SENT VIA EMAIL TO THOSE WHO HAVE EMAIL ADDRESSES.  BE SURE CHURCH OFFICE HAS YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS!  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE EMAIL, YOU WILL STILL RECEIVE THE PRINTED COPY.

Our sympathy to the family of Dema Vice, mother of Marsha Greenstreet, whose funeral was held in Donaldson, Iowa.  Dema had been living with Greenstreets the last three years and was a faithful attendee at St. Andrew's.  A memorial service for Dema will be a part of the worship service on Sunday, May 2.

Congratulations to Rev. Darlene and Padre Payne on the arrival of another grandson.  Xanthus Ryan was born a little prematurely Jan. 20 to the Payne's daughter Dawna and her husband Aaron Watkins.  They have another son, Nicholas, and live in West Virginia.  Xanthus has had some health problems but apparently is doing well now.

St. Andrew's is again providing the space for DeSoto's  Farmers' Market.  The lower parking lot will be busy every Saturday morning from May 8 to Oct. 31 with vendors of plants, produce, baked goods, and crafts.    Debby Campbell's "Get Healthy DeSoto" organization  was instrumental in getting this venture in operation.  Sarah Doremus Circle will be selling coffee, juice, muffins, etc. on 2nd and 4th Saturdays with First UMC and Mt. Olive UMC taking over on 1st and 3rd Saturdays.

First grader Bella Guertzgen helped Maxine play the offertory on the organ Sunday morning, Nov. 8.   Their selection was "The Little Brown Church in the Vale" and Bella played a wonderful B-flat accompaniment on the chorus!

The four Guertzgen children were baptized Sunday, August 9, with a grand contingent of family members there to honor the occasion.  We welcome Dieterich Von Guertzgen, Isabella Sophia Guertzgen, Hunter Weston Guertzgen, and Josephine Noel Guertzgen, as members of the family of Christ.  We also welcome Kelley Guertzen as a new member of St. Andrew's. Picture at below right is of the Guertzgen family.

We welcome Mike and Kim Kingsland as new members to St. Andrew's.  Their daughter, Kelsey Kingsland, was baptized Sunday, July 19, in Mineral Point River where it meets with Big River.  The weather was perfect for this meaningful service and we welcome Kelsey into the fellowship of the church.   The baptism followed a well-attended picnic and fellowship time.  Mike and Kim Kingsland provided  several kinds of meat, cowboy beans, drinks, plates, and utensils.   With the dishes brought by others, it was a sumptuous meal indeed! Go to Pictures Page for photos from this event.

The Rev. Daniel Notico Cossa was reappointed as the pastor of our covenant partner church in Mozambique at their annual conference in December.  Follow the links on the left to read more about this church on the Mozambique page of this website.

The Christmas Silent Auction earned a sizable contribution to our funds earmarked for missions.  Thanks to all who participated and JUDY DOYLE and LEE MAHN  for chairing this project.!

The Upper Room  is available on table at back of the sanctuary.  (New location)  Small print: 75 cents; Large print:  $1.25 donation.

DON'T FORGET TO SIGN UP TO HELP AS LITURGIST AND/OR FELLOWSHIP HOST!  SIGNUP SHEET IS ON THE BULLETIN BOARD IN THE HALLWAY.

The UMSL Dept. of Music presented JOHN NUCKOLS in his Junior Piano Recital Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at the Touhill Performing Arts Center in St. Louis.  John masterfully played a solo program of Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Bartok, and Debussy in this recital which partially fulfills the requirements for the degree Bachelor of Music in Music Education.  John is a son of Dr. David Nuckols and occasionally plays for us here at St. Andrew's.   Congratulations to John on  a beautifully performed piano recital.

Text Box: Sarah Doremus Circle at May 3 Brunch

I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From whence does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
(Psalm 121)
