Matthew 25:
40: "And the King will answer them, "Truly, I say to you, as you
did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me."
In this spirit, our church
has participated in the Festival of Sharing and support of the Food
Pantry and--as evidenced by the letter below--in many other ways.
To the Sarah Doremus Circle,
St. Andrews UMC:
From Darlene Large, HOINA Boys
Home, India:
A note of thanks just for you
At the time of need when every
minute seemed an hour you came and made things at ease--your support and
cooperation made a difference. It not only relaxed me but made me
feel confident in handling things...Thank you so much. I just
can't express in words what it meant to me and HOINA! It will
always be remembered with appreciation. We are so grateful
for every penny, every dollar given to save the lives of the orphans and
elderly, the poor and the sick. God bless each of you mightily.
We are all okay and we're busy
building anew orphanage. We had a challenging July and August.
There has been a gang of 15 men stealing children and selling their body
parts. Finally a local village formed a patrol, caught one of the
men and they stoned him to death. Now the gang seems to have
disappeared.
We had a group of honor
students from Penn State University. They were a great blessing.
Our English is better, and 2 of our village schools are whitewashed and
painted because of them.
We pray for you daily. We
send you many hugs.
Love in Jesus,
Darlene Large and the HOINA
Kids.
"He who dwells in the shelter of the
Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the
Lord, 'My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.' For he
will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly
pestilence; he will cover you with his pinions and under his wings
you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by
day...For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your
ways. On their hands they will bear you up...."
---from Psalm 91
PRAYER:
Holy God, your love holds us steady that we
might not fall; it grants us peace that we might not despair. But
your love also encourages us to become what you created us to be.
Thank you for the gift of love that is ours through your Son, Jesus
Christ, who died to save us and who calls us to serve others in your
name. Amen
