MUSIC

"O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things!...Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! from Psalm 98 Music is important at St. Andrews!

Judy Doyle starts a love of music with the children at an early age!

Larry  Bay is Director of Music at St. Andrews.  He leads both the Chancel Choir and the Bell Choir and also plays guitar accompaniments.   Selections of music vary widely and change with the seasons of the Christian year.  Two cantatas were performed during 2005, one at Easter and one at Christmas.  The Chancel Choir presents an anthem nearly every Sunday, September through May.  Special music solos and groups perform during the summer months.

Larry has a degree in music and years of experience in the music field.  His leadership allows the Choir to perform some quite challenging selections.

Maxine Jinkerson is Organist at St. Andrews.  In addition to playing the prelude, offertory, and postlude each Sunday on the Allen organ, she accompanies the Chancel Choir on either organ or piano.  One of her hammered dulcimer specials occasionally also finds its way into the service.

This is the third church Maxine has served as organist.  She has been at St. Andrews for almost thirty years and still enjoys trying to make each Sunday's music meaningful.  Maxine studied organ technique with noted organist Gerhard Krapf during her college days.

St. Andrews uses two hymnals in its services:  The United Methodist Hymnal (1989) and a newer book, The Faith We Sing, which includes some more contemporary music plus some "oldies but goodies."
