St. Andrew's is again
taking a leadership role for the De Soto Farmers' Market which is being
held on our parking lot on summer Saturday mornings. |
Extravagant
generosity was the theme at The Missouri Annual Conference in
Springfield this year. UMC offerings show this spirit. From
St. Andrew's alone, Mozambique projects were given $106.10; Joplin
Relief, $650; plus 8 flood buckets. Missouri Conference offered $32,977
for water filters in Haiti; $79,534 for Joplin; $6,678 for Mozambique;
and Ozark Council of Churches, $2,266. Donations for Joplin from
Missouri Conference churches totaled $126,059.74. Other sources donated
$91,193.75. |

Heritage Day at the
Market was celebrated on Sat. Sept. 10. Many came to enjoy Civil War
re-enactors, old-time craft booths, and period music. |
It is
with great sadness that we report the passing of our former pastor,
Marilyn Smith, on August 3, 2011. Visitation was held August 6
with the service the following day at Pacific UMC. Our deepest
sympathy to Richard, Marilyn's children and grandchildren and other
family members. She will be greatly missed. Her picture
appears above right and at right--reading from the Bible when she was here at St.
Andrew's. |

A baby shower,
sponsored by the Chancel Choir, was held Saturday, August 27, for Burt
and Melissa McAlpine who are expecting the arrival of their first child
in September. This event was for the whole church, not just the
choir, and the McAlpines received many nice, useful gifts.
AND...their baby
daughter, SARAH INDEPENDENCE was born September 28.
CONGRATULATIONS, BURT AND MELISSA! |
