Mission Minute with students in mind
The short effort to raise funds for Brendan’s Friday Backpacks in March raised $542! We’re continuing to keep the focus on students in April, but we’re focusing on some older students this time. During April, we’ll be collecting funds to pay off past-due lunch bills for some of DeSoto’s seniors. If seniors at the high…

A quick March Mission Minute
Brenden’s Friday Backpacks serves 166 children through Vineland Elementary and about 50 children through the DeSoto Head Start program. The program, originally started in 2011, sends kid-friendly foods home with children each Friday. Thank you for your generosity. The items have already been taken to schools to keep kids warm as we head into January.…

Eight of the individuals on the Administrative Council are women, including Frances Deaton, the Mission Chair. There has been considerable work done to support the women and children at A Safe Place over the past several years, and we’re…

Festival of Sharing asked churches to send large pieces of solid-colored fleece to Annual Conference this year. We sent 17 pieces of the soft fabric down to Springfield, and we weren’t the only ones! The August newsletter will highlight The World Service Fund. It is our largest apportioned giving fund at $2,395, and it has…

Festival of Sharing
We’re going to take a little different route with Festival of Sharing this fall. Instead of picking out a kit or pack, we’ve decided to accept donations and give them to Festival of Sharing to use “where needed most”. However, if you want to give something other than money, add seed packets to you list.…

From the Pastor
What happens when all our assumptions about the present and the future turn out to be little more than a myth? What is it that causes us to continue pressing on in the face of such stark differences between what we thought and what truly is? Author and speaker, Tod Bolsinger, says it will be…
